Amazon, one of the most important cloud infrastructure service providers has decided to launch a new Data Centre in Montreal, Canada!
A 5th data centre for Amazon
Amazon Web will open its fifth North American Data Center in Montreal. The project will be eco-friendly project and will be powered through clean hydroelectricity. According to Jeff Barr, Montreal's environment initiatives is what made it an attractive city for Amazon.
Amazon Web Services serves the Canadian market centres located in Oregon (West) and North Virginia (East). This new centre will be sued to support all Canadian services.
Words from the Premier of Quebec
Quebec Premier Philippe Couillard said in a press release :
"This choice proves that Quebec has all the necessary attributes to attract international corporations, specifically as a fiscal environment that encourages investments and as a source of clean hydroelectricity"
"This first American infrastructure will push innovation and economic growth in Quebec and in the rest of Canada."

Did you know that Quebec has been in the news lately? Amazon is not the only company opening offices here. IBM has opened an office in Drummondville and Videotron and Cogeco have intentions of launching centres in Montreal.
